抗日背景下的浪漫爱情

剧情：《南太平洋》《南太平洋》背景为二次世界大战美国海军占领南太平洋一小岛之时；岛上最有钱的迪贝克战前已前土著女子结婚生下两子，但孩子的母亲去世得早。海军少尉护士奈莉．佛布许来自保守的阿肯色州小镇，爱上了迪贝克，但因为其二个混血儿拖油瓶，不禁略略犹疑。她对迪贝克倾心不已，但面对母亲严来信，只得狠心拒绝。岛上另外一个大出风头的人物是万事通型的“血腥玛丽”广受美国驻军欢迎；一个来自费城的盖博中尉对玛丽的女儿莉亚深有好感，但是也顾虑其土著身份；玛丽以一首小岛情歌替女儿做了媒，使盖博捐弃了成见，热情挥洒热情。但随着两段异国恋情越形白热，结婚成家的压力也越来越明显；迪贝克在向奈莉求婚被拒后自愿与盖博深入战区探军情；盖博中弹身亡，迪贝克亦一度失踪，使得奈莉认清她对迪贝克的感情；她日夜陪伴迪贝克的幼子女，与他们培养出感情，更对自己将迪贝克逼上敌阵后悔不已。幸亏迪贝克安然返归，有情人终成眷属。
